I just returned from a spiritual retreat with a group of 60 people from all over the world. We have been working together and communicating on the web for over a year, but last week, most of us got to meet each other for the first time. It was a wonderful gathering, and we all commented on how much it felt like family to finally be together. 
Part of our time at this retreat was structured, but we also had plenty of free time for large and/or small groups to come together and create whatever they wanted. One of the groups I joined decided to create an interactive inter-dimensional travel experience.
So eight of us gathered on the cool grass under the Colorado sky by the side of a rushing mountain creek. We were four men and four women representing five different countries from around the world. We lay down on the grass and formed a circle with our heads in the center, relaxed our minds and bodies, and began to journey together.
We started by meeting in a safe space that had been agreed upon beforehand. For most of us this safe space is usually some kind of building that embodies the ideals of trust in ourselves and each other, incredible beauty and expansiveness. For me it took the shape of a large glass building on top of a mountain. It was hexagonal and domed with double doors on each side.
I saw the eight of us in the middle of the building in a circle, each with a magic elixir blended specially for each individual. We held our glasses high in salute to each other and our journey, and then we drank.
Then one person said he saw a Native American chief enter the building. Another person began to see this chief beckoning us out through one of the doors. When the doors opened, we could see a vast mountain range in front of us with stones stairs leading down to the top of a waterfall. We followed the chief down the stairs to an open space in front of the pond at the top of the falls.
Then another person noticed a party of Native Americans approaching us. They bid us welcome and told us that we had come to a New Earth that was being created to ease the population influx on Earth and to create a physical reality that could profit from all we have learned through all of our experiences on this Old Earth. They showed us how to honor the plants and animals that give us food, and told us that the care of New Earth as well as Old Earth is now in the hands of us humans. They were delighted to see us, and wanted us to come back as many times as possible, promising to show us all of the new ways of life that are being created here. They said there were many other groups of humans in this dimension who also wanted to work with us.
One of our group reported that our hosts had planned a celebration to honor our coming. So we followed them to a vast alpine meadow where we danced and feasted amid tall grass and wildflowers under a clear mountain sky.
When it was time to go, we promised to return, said our thanks and goodbyes, and returned up the stairs to the domed house. But we all wanted to continue our journey, so we decided to travel into the future to explore the potentials of what our larger group would be doing in five years time.
Many in our small group mentioned various potentials, and then we all felt into each of them to see which resonated most with the group. One potential seemed to contain much more energy than the others. By this I mean that many in the group were able to clearly visualize this potential and add details to it, as well as feel into the passion being generated by it. This potential took the form of a vast web of groups working together all around the globe, networking, communicating and visiting each other to learn from what each of us is doing. Included in this vision was a larger center serving as the hub of the network. As each of us felt into this potential, the energy rose and the vision became clearer and clearer. We all felt that this was a potential that has a good chance of manifesting.
After our journey to the future we returned to our safe space and once again saluted and drank. Then our journey was over. We rose and hugged all around.
This inter-dimensional co-creation was both an individual creation and a group creation. Each of the other members of the group would probably have reported our journey quite differently, for each had his or her own experience. But because we were interacting as we journeyed, there were common elements and a common narrative that we all could follow and experience as a group. For me this made the experience much richer, more complex and more highly detailed than what I would have created on my own. It was truly an amazing and inspirational experience.
Co-creation is like that.
