We are living in chaotic times (in case you haven’t noticed) – and chaos is not comfortable. We feel suspended in mid air with no place to land and no way to protect ourselves or influence the situation in positive ways.
But chaos is simply unpredictable change – at least unpredictable from our usual reliance on change happening by cause and effect, through time, with the addition of some kind of force. Chaos is instead, the foundation of creative transformation based on rules of the energy dimension, where cause and effect don’t work, time is inconsequential, and force is not necessary or effective.
So when our institutions seem to be crumbling, when banks and financial companies prey on their customers, when our educational system seems to be failing, when our political leaders are engaged in constant conflict, we feel helpless and despairing.
We often mistake conflict for chaos, but conflict and chaos are not the same thing. Although conflict often seems unpredictable, the difference is that we think we can predict the outcome of conflict by force. Whoever exerts the most force will win the conflict, which, in the past, usually seemed to be true.
But this idea is changing today. We are tired of conflict, and there is a growing awareness that force is antithetical to real change, at least when dealing with human beings. Beginning with Gandhi, then Martin Luther King, and now the Wall Street protesters (with many other successful situations in between) we are learning that non-violent means are far more effective ways of making real and lasting changes. But because there is no force involved (except maybe from the other side) it is hard to know where it is going or believe it will work. To many, it seems pointless, insignificant and hopeless.
The first thing to do is to learn to lessen the effect of mass consciousness on our own individual energy bodies. The chaos in the world is affecting mass consciousness with more and more people feeling helpless, frustrated and angry. Being bombarded by this energy all the time makes it difficult to know where the energy of mass consciousness leaves off, and where our own energy begins.
Taking time by ourselves in natural surroundings, away from TV, internet and other people can help. Learning to call our own energy away from mass consciousness, ground it and refresh it with a new infusion of universal energy allows us to balance and harmonize our own personal energy field and learn to separate it from the energy of mass consciousness. (See Multi-dimensional Awareness for how to do this)
The key to finding joy in chaos is to remember that in the quantum or energy dimension, human consciousness is a player. The classical rules that govern physical matter, (where cause and effect is king), see consciousness as simply an observer of a fixed reality. Quantum physics, however, tells us that conscious intention does affect reality, just not through force.
It is therefore extremely important to think about the best possible outcome and focus on that, even though we may not understand how this positive outcome could possibly come about. It is not even necessary to know exactly what the best possible outcome truly would be. Just set your intention for the best potential (whatever that is), knowing that your intention will have an effect, even if you don’t understand how.
The rules of the energy dimension seem mystical, magical and mysterious, but watching them work is truly exciting, even if we can’t predict the outcome. Remember the chaos involved in a thorough spring housecleaning? It is impossible to get the house really clean without turning everything upside down and getting rid of a lot of old stuff. We know the outcome in this case because we are in charge.
Even though we are not in charge of the larger world, we can still have a positive effect if we keep an optimistic attitude and a sense of humor. Chaos creates transformation because it is free-flowing energy, not limited by any form or structure, ready to become whatever we want it to become. And that’s pretty exciting!
