As more and more of us move toward energy awareness, we should be alert to a few pitfalls.
While knowledge of the energy realm offers us an expanded view of reality, this new understanding can often morph into a belief system rather than a new track of inquiry. Because of this proclivity, many of us might be tempted to rely on our own personal beliefs rather than scientific recommendations about how best to keep ourselves and others safe during this difficult time.
For example, we might believe that because we know expectations draw what we expect to us, actively expecting to stay healthy would protect us.
We might believe that having a good relationship with our bodies, and/or following alternative guidelines that seem to result in health and general fitness, would eliminate our chances of getting sick.
We might also believe that because we have confined our social group to those that think like we do, and all these people are still healthy, that we are safe.
While exploring the energy dimension can be truly magical, it does not mean we should dismiss scientific data about physical reality. Even though we are aware of the existence of the energy realm and think we understand some of its rules, we do live in a physical world and need to respect physical laws and objective methods of knowledge acquisition.
Ironically, it is easy to dismiss science because it is constantly changing. For example, we were first told masks were unnecessary and now we are told they are essential. Why should we pay attention to experts who can’t even get their advice straight?
But this is precisely the beauty and strength of science – that it is capable of changing on a dime if data show that the first approach is wrong. One of the reasons this virus is so dangerous is because it is different from any other, meaning that science and medicine knew nothing about it in the beginning. As we learn more, recommendations will naturally change. Rather than a sign of incompetence, reversals show that the scientific method is working as it should.
There is a radical difference between science and belief. Science is always changing where belief is generally static and resists change. Belief seduces us with its claim to certainty, while a plethora of new and sometimes contradictory scientific information makes our heads spin. So now, in our incredibly chaotic and uncertain world, belief is very appealing. Nonetheless, because science actively tries to reduce the subjective bias and static nature of belief, it is the only game in town when it comes to understanding reality, both physical and energetic.
As we explore the energy dimension we must do so as a scientist and not let our need for certainty and control lure us into solidifying our early knowledge into beliefs. Since we are at the very beginning of our exploration of energy reality, we must carefully guard against relying on our incomplete understanding of this new dimension when it comes to staying safe in our physical environment. It IS possible to live comfortably in both physical and energetic reality at the same time.
Let me use myself as an example.
I believe I can influence my reality with thoughts and choices because thought waves seek out similar waves which then manifest in reality. In other words, we get what we expect. Therefore, if I do not expect to be infected, I will not get infected. If I am right, that expectation may lessen my chances of getting the virus, but it certainly does not eliminate them completely. I know there are many more variables that could be at play that I don’t yet know about and/or understand. This virus is a horrible sickness, and I really don’t want to take the chance that my beliefs could be wrong or incomplete.
I am 75 years old and yet am super healthy with no medical problems. I take no medication, (not even supplements or vitamins), have no aches or pains and am flexible and move easily. Given my age, I assume that the energetic relationship I have with my body is what has resulted in my good health. Therefore, I believe my alternative approach to health will protect me from the virus. But again, I could be wrong. Many young, healthy people have not only gotten the virus but died from it. While I can cite my current health as proof that my approach will keep me safe, there is no certainty I am right.
I know no one who has or has had the virus, which cannot help but foster a false sense of security. But I live in a rural area and knew it would get here eventually, and it has, with the number of cases and deaths rising at an alarming rate. While I am tired of waiting, and want to get on with my life, I’ve seen what’s happened to those in the south and west when they were impatient to get back to “normal”. And I know that the world is changing energetically and the virus is part of that change. We will never get back to “normal” and will need to have patience and become comfortable with uncertainty.
In fact, when it comes to certainty, we are all doomed. As much as humans crave certainty, as much as humans cling to belief rather than science, we, as humans on Earth, will never know enough to be certain about anything. Science and the exploration of the physical and energetic world is now evolving ever faster, providing new knowledge that disproves earlier facts in record time. And the exploration of the energy dimension is only just beginning. The minute we are certain of our beliefs, we are in trouble.
And no matter what my beliefs, I have no right to endanger others because of them. We now know that anywhere between 20% to 50% of people testing positive are pre- or asymptomatic. These people are carriers, perhaps even super-spreaders. Even if my beliefs turn out to be correct and I do not suffer symptoms from the virus, I could easily be a carrier and not even know it. And because I don’t know it, I could infect my family, my friends and anyone I come in contact with if I don’t take active steps to protect them.
Much talk has centered on the “freedom” of not wearing a mask and of circulating freely as if nothing is happening. However, true freedom is only possible when individuals are willing to take full responsibility for how their behavior affects other people. If we are NOT willing to voluntarily modify our behavior so it does not adversely affect others, then we will continue to need enforceable rules and regulations to protect us all. Freedom and responsibility are indelibly entwined.
Since we have no effective leadership on the national level however, it is up to all of us, especially those of us who are energy aware, to take responsibility for our own behavior. Now is the time to exercise the true freedom of making responsible choices.
We all crave certainty in these chaotic times. It’s OK to have beliefs, just take them with a huge grain of salt, be open to changing them when faced with new information, and don’t endanger anyone else because of them.
And finally . . .
Those of us exploring new ways of thinking are becoming more aware of the effects of mass consciousness on our thoughts and behavior. Global mass consciousness is obviously affecting us, but the group energy of immediate friends has an even greater affect. If these two kinds of mass consciousness are at odds, it is easy to demonize societal mass consciousness to the point where it seems like a conspiracy.
But no matter how suffocating or wrong-headed this societal energy may seem, it is not a conspiracy! It is just a common subconscious agreement about the substance of reality. For example, everyone agrees that a very tall plant with a trunk and leaves is a tree. The scientific method is a tool that helps us determine that agreement. This consensus is what holds the physical world together and makes communication about it possible. We demonize it at the risk of collapsing 3D reality to the point where no one can even agree that the sky is blue.
Conspiracy theories come from the part of mass consciousness that feels helpless and needs to fall into victimhood. They are beliefs that temp us with the comfort of certainty and the ease of blame. While we are often influenced and pressured by group energy, we can avoid being brainwashed and/or manipulated by always checking facts and assessing the logic of any statement or situation. Creating bogeymen prevents us from understanding how energy serves us. We are not victims.
The world is overwhelming and chaotic right now, but that’s because old systems are disintegrating so that new ones can be created. We are now in the remodeling stage where everything is being gutted in readiness for the update.
Hang in there! It is an exciting time to be alive.

I appreciated your explanation of why science and beliefs may be at odds., Bev, and why there is wisdom in listening to what science is saying about some belief we may have. This humility of knowing that everything I believe may not stand up to scientific scrutiny seems particularly important today
