We can use the 7 days of the week to become more conscious of how we choose to live. Relatively simple choices can make a big difference. Here are seven ways to fill your life with positive energy.
Studies have shown that smiling (even when you don’t feel like it) activates chemicals in the body that help you feel better. A smile also affects those around you, spreading warmth and good cheer, which then affects you back again. A smile spreads positive energy around you and then reflects it back to you.
2. Drink lots of water.
We know that being hydrated is important for physical health, but it’s also important for energetic health. Lots of water flushes out old depleted energy just like it does toxic and unnecessary physical elements. The Earth changes we are currently experiencing are hard on us both physically and energetically. Water can help release the old and balance the new.
3. Reframe the negative.
Although we humans tend to see things dualistically (black vs white), this is an illusion. Even the darkest circumstance will have some beneficial elements, if not now, then in the future. Looking for the positive may seem difficult at first, but the more you do it, the easier it gets.
I once witnessed a very interesting children’s sermon on just this subject. The minister told the children she would give them a penny for every black item they could find around them. At first the kids were slow to respond, not being used to looking for only black objects. But the more they looked, the faster the responses came until the minister stopped the game.
Then she told them she would now give them a penny for every white object they could find. This time it took even longer for them to readjust their perception from black to white. But once they did, their response was just as robust as before.
The more you look for the positive, the faster you will find it. Focusing on the good things in life creates positive energy, which will in turn attract more of the same because similar energies attract each other.
4. Surround yourself with harmonious and loving non-human friends.
Plants and animals have also been shown to have positive effects on our physical health. Plants release oxygen and some even absorb toxins and clean the air. Having pets reduces blood pressure and lessens depression. Energetically, plants and animals bring the harmonics of nature into our homes, and grace our beingness with their loving presence.
You don’t have room for plants or pets? Try a small collection of crystals. They’re not only beautiful but can focus and store certain kinds of energy. You can research them in terms of the energy they represent or simply choose those you are drawn to. Either way, they will serve you.
5. Practice loving yourself.
Most of us are still trying to get validation from those around us based on what we do. It is simply our presence on Earth, however, that is all the validation we need. We are here because we have chosen to experience life as a physical being and to live a life filled with the sensual experiences only Earth can offer.
Loving yourself means celebrating life in the physical to its fullest. It means finding joy in simple physical pleasures like hugging a child or loved one, sipping an aged wine, riding a carnival ride or feeling the sun on your face. These things are why we’re here. Becoming rich and famous, climbing Mt. Everest, or saving the world are OK if you really want to do them, but whether you do or not has nothing to do with your real value as a human.
Love yourself as a being, not a doing. When you love yourself you don’t need validation from anyone or anything.
6. Create.
Whether you think you are artistic or not, your soul yearns to express itself. If thinking of yourself as an artist seems intimidating, think of yourself as a creator instead because that’s what you are. Whether it’s a painting, a song, a photograph, a vegetable garden, a meal or a field-stone patio, each of us has a special way of creating. Create what you love and don’t be hooked into others’ reactions, or how many “likes” you get on social media. What counts is whether you had fun doing it. The more you create, the more your heart sings.
7. Hang out with positive people.
Whether its old friends or relatives, there will always be some people in our lives who drain our energy and/or insist on pursuing the negative. The easiest way to deal with these people is simply to choose not to be around them.
If this isn’t possible, you can choose not to hear their negative comments and change the subject to something more positive. You can also pretend their negative comment was actually a positive comment and continue the conversation as if they agreed with you. (This confuses people so much they will often stop talking altogether.)
Make a conscious choice to be around people who make you laugh, who see the bright side of things, and who love and respect you for who you are. Then you will attract even more of them into your life.
These seven tips correspond to the seven days of the week. Whether you practice all of them all the time, or choose to concentrate on one each day of the week, your life will be lighter and brighter as a result.
